In the harsh North Dakota winters, where temperatures can drop to -40, the oil and gas industry needs insulation products to protect their pipelines from freezing. One particular area of concern is the wellhead, where irregularly-shaped components and varied orientations make protection difficult, if not impossible, with standard insulation options.

In order to protect their wellhead componentry, RTR Oilfield Services called upon Dragon Jacket for a customized insulation solution. Working off 3D scans, Dragon Jacket designed and produced custom insulation parts for 40 wellheads to ensure proper fitment and protection. The resulting insulation protects the wellhead and casing isolation valve and is durable enough to withstand freezing temperatures, harsh winds, and regular removal and reinstallation by wellhead inspection personnel.
