Project Details:

Government officials in the city of Kellogg, Idaho needed an insulation solution to protect a water main spanning across the Elizabeth Park Bridge. The one-hundred feet of pipeline operates under the stress of vibration from vehicle traffic and required a durable insulation solution that could withstand constant movement, while also providing protective benefits against the freezing temperatures of harsh Northern Idaho winters.

To ensure maximum functionality, they installed Dragon Jacket insulation across the length of the pipeline. Dragon Jacket’s polyiso closed-cell foam and integrated polyurea sheathe provides a static R-value that prevents water freezing in the pipes, while the insulation, which rests directly on the bridge’s pipe rollers, eliminates the heat loss from metal-on-metal contact that typically impacts pipelines on bridges located in cold climates.

Dragon Jacket delivered the necessary insulative benefits to the pipeline, while also providing an inhospitable environment for nesting wildlife. The insulation’s high durability protects its integrity under the constant movement and vibrations generated by passing traffic. Meanwhile, the insulation’s easy “one-and-done” installation improves the safety profile of future removal, inspection, and reinstallation procedures.

Dragon Jacket is proud to deliver for an important project so close to our Rathdrum facility.
