App-Enabled CAD Software Simplifies Measuring and Modeling in Active, Demanding Environments and Remote Locations
Oil, gas and mining operations tend to be miles from anything. Food production lines and equipment are located in active, critical environments. Loading arms are often positioned in difficult-to-reach places and at awkward angles. It’s not unusual in even standard pipeline operations to have at least one irregularly shaped valve or coupling. When insulating pipeline systems that have a few (or more) non-standard components, customization is essential to guarantee the best possible insulation protection. That’s why Dragon Jacket offers customized solutions that are engineered using app-enabled 3D modeling CAD software.

For Insulation to Really Work Well, Precision is Key
When pipeline componentry is located in demanding environments and harsh climates, wrapping it with fiberglass or covering it with an insulation blanket simply isn’t enough. Freezing air and moisture can creep in through the gaps, while vibration, movement and normal operations can shift or displace the insulation to a point that renders it useless. For standard and complex equipment, insulation needs to be both strong and precise. To achieve this perfect balance, Dragon Jacket builds its customized products off of SolidWorks 3D models that are scanned in the field.
“Working in the field with Dragon Jacket 3D scanning was smooth and simple. A few minutes of training over the phone and my team was able to quickly complete the scanning for our valve systems. Dragon Jacket delivered parts that fit well and were easy to install.”

How It Works – Download, Scan, Send
It is impractical and cost-prohibitive to send engineers out into the field to take measurements for a few custom parts, especially in remote locations or highly active environments. That’s why we build our insulation solutions based on scans that can be collected by existing field crew using an app that is downloaded to a phone or tablet. The process is so simple, and the app so intuitive it can be completed by just about anyone.
After completing the scans, simply upload them to the cloud and let us know they are ready. We take it from there. We then engineer your insulation for a near-perfect fit and send it to you ready to be installed by the existing field crew. The installation requires no special tools or training for an easy process from start to finish.

Not Convinced – See How this Process Results in a Fast Efficient Installation
- The video above demonstrates how easy it is to scan complex shapes using the 3-D modeling CAD software app. Just point, click, and upload.
- Once the insulation pieces are fabricated, they are labeled and shipped to you with an assembly sheet detailing the location of each part.
- The time-lapse assembly video below illustrates how fast and easy installation is. This system installation was completed in just ten minutes.

DRAGON JACKET SOLVES PROBLEMS. PERIOD.
Historically, insulation has been a necessary evil and a constant headache. But with Dragon Jacket, it doesn’t have to be that way. Our products solve insulation’s most difficult problems. Our products provide waterproof, oilproof, chemical-proof thermal stability over time without the threat of CUI. Our products are made to last decades, delivering a sustainable, cost-positive solution to what has previously been a wasteful, expensive endeavor. And now with 3D scanning, it has never been easier to get the exact right insulation no matter where you are or how complex the project or the environment.
